First Tattoo!

YES, you read it right! A couple weeks ago I got my first tattoo, ever! January 26th, to be exact :) It's a black semicolon on my right wrist. It was a spur of the moment decision and I'm really proud that I got it done. YOU are the first to see it here! I have NOT posted this anywhere else on social media yet!!! :)

Honestly....I've never really wanted to get a tattoo until about a month ago. I just wasnt sure how I felt about permanent ink on my body for the rest of my life. To me, it's a big decision because you can't take it back. But when I heard about "Project Semicolon" (www.projectsemicolon.org) I was incredibly inspired. This hits home for me. On their website Project Semicolon states, "PROJECT SEMICOLON IS A GLOBAL NON-PROFIT MOVEMENT DEDICATED TO PRESENTING HOPE AND LOVE FOR THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS, SUICIDE, ADDICTION AND SELF-INJURY. PROJECT SEMICOLON EXISTS TO ENCOURAGE, LOVE AND INSPIRE."

The semicolon in a sentence is like a "pause", and like a semicolon this is just a pause. Your life is not over. Your story is not over. Sometimes people with mental illness fight some of the hardest battles...and no one even knows it.
